This session of the CGP Pointed Pen Study Group will work on skills that can be translated to holiday cards or tags—flourished capitals and working with gold and white media. For our project we will create a handmade and hand-lettered holiday card with a template cut card.
We will also learn how to die cut a card out of artist paper or your own decorated paper and then add a flourished holiday message. Demos will be given for making the card as well as some of the most common capital letters you may use over the holidays: M, C, and H! Others if we have time.
Bring: pen, nibs, Sumi or gouache, water container, ruler, pencil, eraser. Feel free to bring metallic ink, watercolor, or any supplies you would like to use or share for decorating your card. If you bring a favorite decorative paper, we can show you how to use it with the card templates. Paper must be sturdy enough to be a card base, like Canson Mi-Tientes, Canson Colorline, or watercolor paper.
The Guild will provide samples of paper for you to do your lettering, metallic ink/gouache, and white fluids.
