Painting demonstration by Carol Saunders

Graphite drawing of tulip by Carol SaundersA special painting demonstration by Phipp’s Conservatory Instructor, Carol Saunders will be presented on Tuesday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. as part of the current art exhibit, The Artful Tulip by Claire Hardy.  In the beautiful setting of The Mansions on Fifth Salon Showroom, guests will travel back in time to discover the impact that tulips had on art, economics and history.

Claire Hardy will use the focal painting ‘Rembrandt Tulips’ as her visual aid in a discussion about Tulipmania and the lasting inspiration made by this popular perennial.  Afterwards, Carol will demonstrate a technique she has mastered known as carbon dust painting.   Finally, a guided tour of ‘The Artful Tulip’ with Claire will follow the demonstration.

Galerie Werner’s 10th Anniversary celebration is an opportunity to say thank you to Pittsburgh for its support over the last ten years. Works displayed in the Salon Showroom on the first floor are open to the public 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, while a tour of the works for sale on the second and third floors can be scheduled by appointment.
