Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection Exhibit at The University of Scranton

image of bird from Zaner-Blosser Penmanship CollectionWeinberg Memorial Library at The University of Scranton is pleased to announce the opening of “Highlights from the Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection.” The Zaner-Bloser Collection is one of the most extensive collections of American ornamental penmanship from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibit provides an overview of the collection, showcasing examples of ornamental penmanship and pen flourishing by the leading handwriting masters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibit will also feature professional journals such as the Penman’s Art Journal, American handwriting manuals from the late 18th through the mid-20th century, pens used by master penmen, printing blocks, and other items relating to the history of penmanship and penmanship instruction. Highlights include original cover art for the Penman’s Art Journal and large format pen flourishings by C. P. Zaner, Daniel Ames and others.
